A bare chested Shawn Mendes arrived at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles just now dressed in an aubergine suit and a buttoned-down rainforest green shirt. To his left, Ciara stepped up to the carpet in a cobalt blue Balmain blazer and pant combo. But it was Selena Gomez’s slinky, lime green Versace mini and Jackie-O bob which caught every photographer’s flash. It is after all, a huge night for the 27-year-old singer who will be performing her new ballad “Lose You To Love Me” live for the first time. The track, released last month, controversially chronicles the break-down of her on-again-off-again relationship with Justin Bieber. Gomez’s best friend, Taylor Swift is also performing in the wake of her heated public argument with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her back catalogue. Nominated across five categories, if the popstar wins just one AMA tonight, she will tie with Michael Jackson, who received 24 in his lifetime.
