Since becoming the unofficial poster girl for the no make-up movement last year, Alicia Keys hasn’t worn a scrap of slap. From her Instagram feed to red carpet events, the singer has continually put her best, beautiful and completely bare face forward. Until now, that is.

Gracing the cover of Allure Magazine, Keys can be seen inside the issues rocking three coloured eyeliner looks – bright aqua, bold purple and classic black. Marking the first time the singer had worn any kind of make-up in nearly a year, Keys told the magazine: “I’m not a slave to makeup. I’m not a slave to not wearing makeup either. I get to choose at [any] given moment. That’s my right.”

Keys says one of the reasons she decided to ditch the base was down to the layers of make-up she wore early on in her career, which when worn under hot lights for hours led to confidence-crushing breakouts. “It took me so long to finally say, ‘Whoa!’” she told the magazine. “Who am I under there? That is just my own personal quest.”
Still, Keys is adamant that her choice to go bare isn’t aimed at shaming those who love a full face. “I think makeup can be self-expression. I have no intention to shame anyone at all. No one should be ashamed by the way you choose to express yourself.” Could we love her anymore?
