SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: One-hundred and fifty looks on a rotation of 43 models hit the Afterpay Future Of Fashion Runway on Wednesday evening, the show’s scale reminiscent of an international runway. Held in Gallery one – the Carla Zampatti Runway – and helmed by stylists Jessica Pecoraro and Elliot Garnaut, full-look bursts of 13 designers hit the concrete catwalk. Read: the contemporary cuts of Anna Quan, the youthful colours of Bondi Born, the staple draping of Esse, the reinvented Oroton, the sleek athleisure-come-urban pieces of PE Nation and more.
Fenty Beauty was the official beauty sponsor of the show, led by the brand’s artistic director Penny Antuar, and to the delight of the thousands-strong crowd, ARIA award-winning musician Genesis Owsusu brought the vibe up. Perhaps most notable, however, was Afterpay’s significant strides in ensuring its runway was inclusive of those with disabilities, a group of people who remain under-represented in the industry.
Sustainability was another area Afterpay championed this year. The Future Of Fashion show featured pre-loved eBay-listed luxury handbags, marking the first time pre-owned fashion had ever been brought to the AAFW runway.
