Adele has left the building. After two years, 100 shows and over 100,000 tickets sold, Adele has tearfully concluded her Las Vegas residency with an emotional final show at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace.

“I’m so sad this residency is over but I am so glad that it happened, I really, really am,” she said of the concert titled ‘Weekends With Adele’. As the British songstress initially teased back in July, the 36-year-old plans to take a ‘big break’ from music following the culmination of the shows—a sentiment she echoed during the swan song in Sin City.

“I will miss it terribly, I will miss you terribly,” she added. “I don’t know when I next want to perform again”.

However, Adele did confirm that she wouldn’t be closing the curtain on music forever. “Of course, I’ll be back,” she promised. “The only thing I’m good at is singing and things like that. I just don’t know when I want to next come on stage, but I love you,” she told the audience while crying.

The 16-time Grammy Award winner also sweetly thanked her pre-teen son Angelo and “husband“, American sports agent Rich Paul, for motivating her throughout the production’s duration. “Thank you for always bigging me up and making me feel like I could do whatever I wanted to do,” she said. “There’s been times when I’m too tired or I’m too emotionally drained … so I appreciate that.”

As the singer admitted herself, Weekends With Adele got off to a ‘rocky’ start after production delays relating to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in it being postponed one day before the residency was set to begin. Nevertheless, the show ultimately received critical and commercial acclaim, eventually grossing over AUD $336 million.

With a crowd capacity of 4,000, spectators praised the singer’s intimacy and the sleek setting that led to a more minimal and private viewing experience. Throughout the residence, Adele also tapped a legion of luxury designers to create custom black floor-length evening gowns for her to wear while on stage.  Her LBD (long black dress) became a trademark, with Louis Vuitton, Dior, Prada, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Loewe and Schiaparelli all applying their distinctive house codes to the now-iconic silhouette.
