Adele is almost as known for her flawless makeup as she is for her voice, and now we finally have the secret tool behind her seamless base. The singer’s makeup artist Anthony H. Nguyen has revealed that he uses a cult – yet still somewhat unconventional – foundation brush to keep the finish looking smooth.
In a series of snaps shared to Instagram, Nguyen can be seen brushing over Adele’s base with the Artis Elite Mirror Oval 7 Brush, which is said to allow makeup to blend more imperceptibly into the skin. Kylie Jenner is a fan, as are a number of A-list makeup artists, likely due to the brush’s dense bristles, which make blending a dream.
At $110 the brush certainly doesn’t come cheap, but it’s said to offer the skin an airbrushed effect. The large paddle-brush head also makes it really easy to quickly buff and blend makeup across the face, without adding too much product or leaving it looking cakey.
Nguyen recently revealed that he’s still a fan of the humble makeup sponge however, having been hurried on stage for an emergency touch-up to Adele’s under eyes after the star shed a few tears on stage. The makeup artist can be seen delicately dabbing beneath Adele’s trademark winged eyeliner and XXL eyelashes with a sponge to soak up the singer’s “happy tears”.
Adele, to her part, keeps her everyday makeup routine relatively simple. “I’ll literally just put on Charlotte Tilbury, that glowy thing…that glowy cream, I put it on just over my face,” she revealed in a video with YouTube star NikkieTutorials.
Of course, she’s referring to TikTok’s favourite beauty product, the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($65). Rumour has it the woman has excellent taste!
