Last night, Australian designer Michael Lo Sordo transported us to Paris for the showing of his Afterpay Australian Fashion Week Resort 2022 collection.
Held at Bambini Trust restaurant in the city, the presentation followed a less-traditional format, where models were situated at the restaurant, talking/laughing/and demonstrating the looks in real time (we would say real life, but Parisian apertivo hour feels more like a dream life right now).
Beauty was a modern, late-night take on traditional French girl cool. Stylist Hair by Koh for KEVIN.MURPHY was on hair, and described the look as “chic, clean and modern, with middle partings and smooth tousled lengths.”
“I used KEVIN.MURPHY YOUNG.AGAIN DRY CONDITIONER through the ends and began by blow drying hair, section by section, until smooth. I love this product as it leaves the hair looking healthy and shiny. After this, I applied KEVIN.MURPHY TOUCHABLE to pre-tonged hair. I used the tong to bend the hair and give back a look of effortless texture. I finished the look with KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY FLEXI, a lightweight hair spray that holds the hair effortlessly without weighing it down.”
Makeup was a mixed bag of either clean, fresh skin (and not much else), or a full face of iridescent glitter. Makeup artist Stoj was behind it, and used a mix of MAC Cosmetics Face & Body Foundation, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer and the just-launched Mecca Max Whip Lash Tubing Mascara.
It was creative and beautiful with an edge, just like Lo Sordo’s sartorial taste. It was also a nice dose of escapism, or perhaps proof that it’s possible to find new feelings in the same city.
