Laid back cool and feminine charm is made easy when you style vintage sportswear. Try an Adidas soccer jersey or track jackets worn with a knee-length pleated skirt or dress. Coined “Blokette” [a riff on TikTok’s “bloke core” and “coquette”] the trend emerged last year around the time of the Women’s World Cup and is still going strong. I decided to switch up the classic samba trainers for cowboy boots on model Charlotte Moffat, whose androgynous appeal means she can virtually pull off any version of playful coquette or casual bloke fashion.

Finding power in pretty was captured perfectly in the Dior Cruise 2025 collection. We saw designer Maria Grazia Chiuri take on the legacy of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, through a new lens. By blending delicate layers of luxurious materials like silk gazar and super kid mohair, designer Kim Jones revealed the ideal sculptural, albeit fluid, knit dress in pastels shades of pink and blue.

Blokette fashion may read very youth-centric—that is, if you buy into the idea of wearing a mini bubble skirt with long socks and ballet flats, or a baby tee with oversized slouchy denim. Yet, there’s something quite liberating and unstructured about this hyper-feminine aesthetic which mixes stereotypical masculine and feminine elements and ultimately creates a “go as you are” genderless look. It’s Gracie Abrams meets Naomi Osaka with a dash of Clueless, shall we say?

It’s certainly a style nod to Miu Miu, who set the preppy girl stamp of approval into a frenzy with the micro mini skirt craze last year. More recently, I’ve gravitated to British designer Grace Wales Bonner who captures the meeting between artful tailoring and sportswear perfectly. While known as a menswear designer, she’s able to blur the gender lines while capturing the girl culture crowd effortlessly.
