“She’s a bit aristocratic, but the new guard of aristocracy, like she totally takes drugs, but she’s a lady.

Such was the intention of the Macgraw girl, as imagined by stylist Kelly Hulme and Edwards & Co.’s Byron Turnball.

“With the hair, it’s like she did it herself the day before and then slept in it, so we like the flyaways and it not looking too perfect,” noted Kelly. It was tiers of romantic braids with a certain quirk – tuffs popping every which way – the tell-tale signs of fun had the previous night, slightly fluffed up and roughed up.

“There’s little bits out and flyaways, but she’s probably slept on a satin pillow, because she is royalty. So it’s not too bad – it’s just a little bit fucked up.”

Referencing the iconic Narcisco Rodriguez campaign with Carmen Kass, Byron Turnball whisked up whimsical braids that sat front and centre on the euphoric Macgraw girls. It was messed-up romance that charmed the pants off us. Byron’s hair directive was clear:

“We want to represent a royal, youthful girl, that’s been running through fields and kissing boys. A Parisian braid made modern.”

A braid of our own heart, kiss the boys and plait away.
