$54 AUD won’t get you too far in New York. Two glasses of rosé at The Williamsburg Hotel. An Uber from the West Village to Brooklyn. But it will see you get a ticket inside the coolest, new interactive exhibit in the city. Opening at 48 Mercer Street in downtown Soho on September 5 (move over Tom Ford), this showcase is all about dystopian body modifications causing the viewer to question, “If you could change your body, would you?”. Case in point, a lovely, architectural conch-shell implanted into your foot as a permanent heel.

The irony of this experiential exhibition, titled A. Human. is its founder is Simon Huck – a very good friend of the Kardashians who are no stranger to a little (read: a lot) lip filler and body contouring via waist trainers and surgery. “We didn’t want to root any of our modifications on the idea of existing insecurities or discomforts,” Huck says. “A. Human is about the freedom to explore this world and live in this world in any way you choose.” OK, so no giant pillows as lips then.

“We wanted to use the future of fashion and the future of self-expression as a way to look at the future,” Huck continued. “That is how the ethos of A. Human formed.” Kim Kardashian-West just hopped on her socials too to showcase a glow-in-the-dark necklace that looks to be implanted under the skin and surely something Lady Gaga already invented in her Born This Way days.

If you are in town over New York Fashion Week (5-16th September 2018), stop in. 48 Mercer Street, New York. You can follow the exhibit’s Instagram here.
