When photos started coming through showing the star-studded front row at Balenciaga’s resort 2023 show in May, the usual suspects, such as divorced couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, were unsurprisingly captured. So too was Megan Thee Stallion, Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, Offset, Chloë Sevigny, and Euphoria’s Alexa Demie.

But even in such company, one attendee stood out in particular: Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn, who changed out of her usual eye-catching, colourful wardrobe into a Balenciaga-laden futuristic outfit made up of a black dress with built-in gloves, polarizing wrap-around sunglasses, and stiletto boots that reached nearly up to her waist.

Quinn wasn’t just invited to the show, she was seated right beside Vogue USA editor Anna Wintour – a juxtaposition no doubt orchestrated by the brand to ensure Quinn’s attendance wouldn’t be missed in the slew of celebrity faces there to support the show. (It worked: photos of Quinn, Wintour, and Demie, flagging Wintour on the other side, immediately went viral).

This marked the beginning of Quinn becoming 2022’s unexpected breakout fashion star. There alongside Julia Fox, who she’s unsurprisingly now become friends with, Quinn has now been featured eating caviar in the New York Times and left Balenciaga’s front row to actually walk in the show, alongside Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Naomi Campbell and Nicole Kidman for the house’s couture show in Paris in July.

Given all the hype around her, the latest news – that Quinn has opted out of returning for Selling Sunset’s sixth and seventh seasons – isn’t a shock. Despite being a fan favourite and admitting herself she leans into being the Netlfix show’s villain, Quinn hasn’t gotten along with any cast members for a long time. This, a source says, was partly behind her exit.

According to E! News, the decision for Quinn to leave “was mutual”. The source added she isn’t involved with any of the other cast members, so her departure made sense.

As for where to next? Quinn is reportedly looking forward to expanding her real estate business with husband Christian Richard while exploring further opportunities in the fashion industry. It pays to note, she did mention she’d be up for her own spin-off show while speaking to NYT recently, joking for Netflix to “call her”. If ever there was a spin-off set for success we’d say this is it. Hire Julia Fox as a broker, please!
