Gigi and Bella Hadid’s father Mohamed Hadid has been sentenced to 200 hours of community service after he was found guilty of building a ‘giga-mansion’.
A Los Angeles court ruled that Hadid had built a Bel Air property far bigger than area permits allowed, and did not receive approval for most parts of the new construction.
According to the Los Angeles Times, neighbours nicknamed Hadid’s incomplete home “starship enterprise” and call it a ‘giga-mansion’ – because the term ‘mega-mansion’ doesn’t do it justice.
The 30,000-square-foot home includes a 70-seat IMAX theatre, as well as several large outdoor decks.
As well as the 200 hours of community service, Mohamed also received three years’ probation and $3,000 in fines, as well as a separate sum to be paid to the city.
A lawyer for Hadid said he is focused on “bringing this building into compliance”, so it might not be too long until Gigi and Bella are enjoying that IMAX screen.
