You’re going to want to clear a few nights in your calendar in September, because Hillary Clinton’s tell-all, post-election loss memoir is coming.
What Happened is an apt name for the book, which will go behind-the-scenes of the brutal presidential campaign, the stunning loss and her life afterwards.
Clinton says she has “let her guard down” to pen the tome, which will focus on sexism, misogyny and gender in politics.
“In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net,” she writes in the introduction.
“Now I’m letting my guard down.”
According to the book’s publisher Simon & Schuster, Clinton also addresses the “challenges of being a strong woman in the public eye, the criticism over her voice, age, and appearance, and the double standard confronting women in politics.”
If What Happened is anything like her concession speech, it’s sure to be poignant, insightful, honest and ultimately, inspirational.
“This loss hurts, but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it. It is, it is worth it,” Clinton said.
“And to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me: I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.
“Now, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but someday someone will — and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.”
