As England comes to terms with yet another tragedy, one of its most iconic residents tried to bring some comfort.

Adele and husband Simon Konecki were seen at the site of the Grenfell tower fire in London on Thursday, which killed at least 17 and injured more than 80 when the building went up in flames in the early hours of Wednesday.

In photos posted on social media, the Grammy winner was seen hugging people gathered outside the blackened shell of the building, many of whom are waiting for news of loved ones as authorities continue to search for the missing.

Eye witnesses said Adele was heard asking if anyone needed help and comforted distressed people, who might have lost their home or a loved one.

It’s the third major tragedy to hit England in weeks, after a suicide bomber killed 22 when he detonated outside Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester.

Eight people were then killed and 48 injured when terrorists mowed down people on London Bridge before carrying out a stabbing attack at Borough Market.

There are concerns the death toll from the Grenfell tower fire may rise as high as 100, as many are still unaccounted for. Investigations into the tragedy continue.
