Kendall Jenner is yet to comment on her controversial Pepsi commercial, although insiders have shared that she’s “devastated” and “heartbroken” over the drama.

But it seems the model is trying to move on, appearing at Coachella with friend and fellow model Hailey Baldwin on the weekend. While she hasn’t yet updated her own social media account, Kendall appeared on Hailey’s in a see-through dress that looked pulled from Kim Kardashian or Kylie’s wardrobe rather than her own, typically more tomboy-ish aesthetic.

Kendall and Kylie are set to host a party sponsored by dating app Bumble, and according to TMZ journalists attending the event have been specifically instructed not to ask Kendall about the Pepsi fiasco.

The soda brand apologised and made the decision to pull the commercial after widespread outrage following its release. The ad was criticised for being tone-deaf, a soulless attempt to capitalise on recent protest movements to sell Pepsi. Many accused Pepsi of making light of the Black Lives Matter movement in America in particular, where tensions often run high between protesters and the police presence, and misrepresenting the experience of protesters who face serious dangers when they take to the street.

The two-and-a-half-minute clip, which has been taken down but can currently still be found on YouTube depicted a protest march. It showed Jenner leaving a photoshoot to join the protesters, where she grabbed a can of Pepsi and handed it to a police officer who took a sip, prompting the crowd to cheer and celebrate. Yes, apparently racism and prejudice can all be solved with a can of Pepsi!

“Kendall is absolutely heartbroken by how everything has turned out, she had no idea it would end up like this,” an insider told The Sun.

“She’s taking time out from the limelight to come to terms with everything.

“It’s very upsetting for her, she never meant for any of this to happen.”
