In what has been described as a heated bidding war, Sony Pictures has won the rights to distribute the highly-anticipated Robin Hood spin-off film Marian. Margot Robbie will star as Maid Marian and also produce the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner.

The film will be set post the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood’s, death where the love of his life, Marian, will lead the people through a war that will decide the fate of the kingdom. There are other film studios working on such storylines but this is the only production house focusing in on the strong female character.

Robbie has just finished filming the Tonya Harding biopic, I, Tonya and still has Bad Monkeys and Beautiful Things in production. She will next star in a movie about Winnie The Pooh author A.A. Milne and has recorded her voice as part of the live-action/animation Peter Rabbit currently filming in Centennial Park in Sydney with Rose Byrne.
