Angelina Jolie has discussed the breakdown of her marriage from Brad Pitt for the first time. In a new interview with BBC, the 41-year-old actress who is on the promotional trail with her children in Cambodia for her new film First They Killed My Father addressed the “incident” that led to her subsequent divorce filing.
In the footage below, you can see the journalist ask Jolie “Your film is about family and loss. I understand this is a very sensitive issue. We know that an incident occurred which led to your separation – we also know you haven’t said anything about this – but would you like to say something?”

Jolie, visibly emotional with tears welling, responded.
“I don’t want to say very much about [the incident] except to say that it was a very difficult time and we are a family. And we’ll always be a family. And we’ll get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it,” she said.
The journalist continued to press and asked how she was handling the high-profile break-up. “Many people find themselves in this situation, and we’ve all been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children, and finding the way through. That’s how I’m coping — with finding a way through to make sure this somehow makes us stronger, closer.”
Watch the extremely interesting and moving interview here. Jolie passionately talks about her new film – a biopic told from the eyes of a child about the Khmer Rouge genocide and how coming back to film in Cambodia (where she first became a mother) is so special to her.
