When Miley Cyrus signed on for the lead in Woody Allen’s first ever TV show Crisis In Six Scenes (and her first acting role in five years), she would have been aware of the criticism she was likely to face for working with the director.
Allen has been plagued by allegations that he sexually abused his daughter Dylan Farrow for decades, claims that he has never been charged over.
And while the murky, ongoing saga should have nothing to do with actors who want to be in the acclaimed directors’ films, it does. This year when Allen’s latest film Café Society was released, cast members Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg were all confronted about their decision to work with the accused child molester.
So Cyrus, 23, no doubt had an answer prepared when Variety asked her whether the sexual abuse allegations made her question whether she should work with him.
“I live a similar life to Woody — I live a public life,” she said. “Until I know someone and I know their story, I never really judge anyone. That’s kind of how I went into it.

From the way I saw him with his family, I never saw him be anything but an incredible person and a really great dad. People might slam me for saying that. I’m sure it was a hard time for that family. My family has been through hard things, and I think everyone’s suffering is different.”
She added the she “loved” working with Allen.
“You do like two takes. He just wants to go home and have dinner with his wife. One night it was 5:30, and the camera operator wanted to do another take. He goes, ‘I can’t dedicate my entire life to making movies.’”
In the six-part, one-off series, Miley plays a young activist in the 1960s who shakes up the lives of some older relatives, including a character played by Allen himself.
