Kanye West caused controversy in April when he dropped the first single from The Life Of Pablo, Famous. The trouble-causing lyric was:
“For all my South Side n***** that know me best
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex
Why? I made that bitch famous
But it turns out the track West released was in fact a watered-down version. An earlier version of Famous leaked online this week, and although it’s since been taken down, Complex heard the audio. In the leaked version, the line about Taylor went:
“I feel like Taylor Swift still owe me sex …. I made that bitch famous.”
And unlike the version Yeezy chose to release, in this earlier take, he also calls out ex-girlfriend Amber Rose.
“I feel like Amber Rose still owe me sex / Why? I made that bitch famous / Not really, but somewhat famous.”
It’s not known why West decided to go with tamer lyrics (possibly to increase commercial appeal and radio play) or who leaked the early version. But after the events of the past week, it’s probably the last thing on Kanye’s mind.
