This week 12-year-old American Grace VanderWaal won America’s Got Talent.
During the young singer’s audition Simon Cowell claimed that she would be “the next Taylor Swift”, and it wasn’t just down to her blonde bob, blue eyes and coltish figure – like Swift, her sound is top-40-pop-meets-country, she writes original songs, plays instruments – usually the ukulele – and has an undeniable stage presence. That’s right, she’s 12.
If Taylor feels threatened Grace will swoop in and steal her fan base, she’s not showing it – she sent her a bunch of flowers following her America’s Got Talent win. Grace shared a video of herself jumping up and down and screaming in hysterics upon reading the card that accompanied the enormous bunch of florals.
Words can not explain how honored I am for this.. thank. You. SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! @taylorswift13 pic.twitter.com/KwcvIwGtpq

Taylor’s not the only celebrity that’s thrown support by the small-town kid turned viral star. Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, and Reese Witherspoon are just some of the other big named who’ve already taken notice of Grace VanderWaal.
If you haven’t seen her sing yet, watch her cover of Meghan Trainor’s All About That Base – it’s had more than 2.8 million views on YouTube and might even be better than the original.
