Angelina Jolie has walked away from a $110 million film project she and Brad Pitt have been working on for years, it’s been reported.

Jolie was set to direct biopic Africa about archaeologist Dr. Richard Leakey, which her now estranged husband Pitt was going to star in, but she now wants nothing to do with the project.

“This movie has been a nightmare to get off the ground from the beginning,” a source close to the production team told Heat Street.

“Until the last few weeks Angelina was resolute in her intent to get it made but now she doesn’t want to direct it at all.”

It’s not known whether Skydance Productions, the company behind the movie, will continue with the project, or whether Pitt will still be involved.

Dr. Leakey is a noted Kenyan conservationist and paleoanthropologist who has dedicated much of his life to stopping elephant poaching. In 1972 he discovered KNM-ER 1470, a 1.9 million-year-old skull fossil.

The news of Angelina’s decision to walk away from the project with Brad comes as it’s been revealed Pitt is being investigated over claims of child abuse. The allegations are believed to have arisen over an incident with his 15-year-old son Maddox when the family was on a flight from France to the US last week.
