Kris Jenner has received a legal letter warning that she and her daughters have been partaking in ‘deceptive marketing’, and could face legal action.

A non-profit group called Truth In Advertising Inc has targeted the Kardashian-Jenner clan for failing to clearly state that many of their posts on Instagram,  Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook that feature products are in fact advertising, Page Six reports.

Kim Kardashian is known for posts that encourage fans to buy teeth whitening products and Sugar Bean Hair vitamins, while Khloe and Kourtney often promote slimming products, and Kylie Jenner recently posed with a facial cleanser.

While they do sometimes hashtag the posts #ad, #sp or #spon to indicate they’ve been paid to promote the product, Truth In Advertising claim it’s not enough, and that they’re likely breaking rules under the US Federal Trade Commission Act.

Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfield, and Estée Lauder are among the brands the family have promoted without adequately communicating they’ve been paid to do so.

“We have found that members of the Kardashian/Jenner family are engaged in deceptive marketing campaigns,” claims the organisation.

“A plethora of posts do not clearly or conspicuously disclose their relationships with the companies being promoted in the posts as is required by federal law.”

The group can’t technically bring legal action against the Kardashians, but they can recommend that the FTC do so.

Sorry Kim, Kylie and the gang – it looks like #spon just isn’t going to cut it anymore.
