After reports that Gisele Bundchen’s appearance at the Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony was going to involve a bizarre mugging stunt, it was a relief to see the supermodel’s moment in the spotlight was nothing but pure glamour.

Brazilian Bundchen strutted through the arena in her home country as The Girl From Ipanema blared from the speakers. She wore a stunning sequined wrap-dress with a thigh-high split from a Brazilian designer (of course) Alexandre Herchcovitch.
Fittingly, the supermodel’s walk was a test of endurance – the longest catwalk she’d ever completed, as the 36-year-old revealed on Instagram.
As if it wasn’t already an iconic moment – one of Brazil’s most successful exports starring in the country’s first Olympic Opening Ceremony – it may have also been the last time we’ll ever see Gisele on the catwalk. TV commentators seemed certain the appearance also marked Bundchen’s retirement. If that’s true, she certainly went out with a bang – footage of the model going crazy in the crowd following her starring moment is going viral as we speak.
