After weeks of mounting speculation, sources have shed more light on the reported split between Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley. The producer and the actress, who married in August 2023, are said to have struggled with “rocky” dynamics leading up to their breakup.

According to Page Six, one source claimed Antonoff, 42, “could be very particular” about how he liked things done, adding that Qualley, 31, did not always feel her perspective carried the same weight. “Communication was definitely a challenge between him and Margaret,” the insider alleged.

Split rumours first swelled over the Fourth of July weekend when Antonoff attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s New York City wedding celebrations without Qualley. The Bleachers frontman was photographed arriving with his sister, fashion designer Rachel Antonoff, while the actress was notably absent. Though some speculated filming commitments kept Qualley away, TMZ later reported she had already wrapped production on King Snake in June and was not due to begin her next project until later this year.

Recently, fans had already begun piecing together what they believed were clues. In April, Qualley quietly changed her Instagram handle from @isimostar, a nod to Antonoff’s song “Isimo”, to @sarahmargaretqualley23. Around the same time, eagle-eyed Bleachers fans noticed that “Margaret”, the love song inspired by the actress, disappeared from the band’s setlist after its June 13 performance. Then on Wednesday, followers also observed that Qualley had removed her wedding photographs and other images featuring Antonoff from her Instagram grid.

The pair were last photographed together at the Grammy Awards on February 1st.

Antonoff and Qualley’s romance began in 2021 after they were spotted sharing an ice cream date in New York. They made their red carpet debut at the 2022 Critics’ Choice Awards, announced their engagement just months later with a sweet Instagram post, and married in an intimate New Jersey ceremony in August 2023.

While neither has publicly addressed the reported split, fans have been reading between the lines for some time, even noting some sightings of Qualley spending time with her recently single co-star Drew Starkey.
