Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield may be long over, but the actress still looks back fondly at that time in her life.
In her recent Vogue “Life in Looks” interview, the Oscar winner lingered on a bright yellow Versace gown from the 2014 London premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2—an iconic look that harckened back to a nostalgic time in the actress’ life.
Stone played Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2011, where she met Garfield as Peter Parker. The two began dating and were together for four years before they eventually parted ways. Reflecting now, Stone spoke with warmth about the collaboration that defined her early career.
“I mean, I really loved doing Spider-Man,” she said. “I loved everyone I worked with. I met Andrew there. I met Sally Field, and Marc Webb was wonderful. It was really a special time in my life.”
What endures, she noted, is not the spectacle of the blockbuster franchise, but the team that brought it all to life. “The recurring theme is the people, more than the film itself, [that sticks with me]. And so I have only, like, the fondest memories of this whole experience.”
Not all of it, however, was easy, with Stone, now 36, admitting the global press tours—nine countries in two weeks—left her “functioning in a state of jet lag never previously known.”
“I felt truly psychotic the entire time,” she joked.
For his part, Garfield has also spoken equally fondly of their time together, describing it to Variety as “only beautiful.” Even their post-romance rapport carries through, with the actor revealing the two are still in touch.
During a guest appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2022, Garfield revealed that Stone had guessed he would make a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“Emma kept on texting me. She was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about!’ he explained. “She was like, ‘Shut up, just tell me,’ And like, I honestly… I kept it going, even with her; it’s hilarious. And then she saw it and was like, ‘You’re a jerk!’”
Stone has been married to director Dave McCary since 2020, with the two welcoming a daughter in 2021.

Meanwhile, Garfield, 41, is currently dating A Complete Unknown star Monica Barbaro, 35.
