SINGAPORE: At the new Conrad Singapore Orchard—a redux of the city-state’s old Regent property—a ‘Sleep To Wake Ritual’ is on the menu. Transforming the traditional turndown service into one that goes beyond a pair of slippers beside the bed, the offering invites guests to immerse themselves in an in-room guided sound bath, sip on a pre-sleep tea, and attend a morning intention session by the pool. It’s one of many guest experiences which anchor the property’s objective of building an oasis of mindful living—and not bad for a jetlagged Australian using Singapore as their layover stop.

“We believe in enhancing our guests’ well-being through meaningful and mindful experiences,” says Oscar Postma, Cluster Operations General Manager at the Conrad Singapore Orchard and Conrad Centennial Singapore. “Our Sleep to Wake Ritual is integral to every stay, reflecting our belief that quality sleep and revitalisation are essential. Also, to help guests start their day refreshed, we offer complimentary morning wellness classes led by Trapeze Rec Club, including yoga, HIIT, and more, fostering a mindful and energised beginning to the day.”

Boasting 445 rooms, 12 floors and 10 restaurants, Conrad Singapore Orchard is enormous and is located smack bang in the middle of the bustling entertainment and retail district of Orchard Road. The hotel recently underwent a transformation, with biophilia at the core of the design ethos, conscientiously drawing the surrounding nature into the atrium hotel. Thus, floor-to-ceiling windows attract natural light into the rooms, the hotel is accented by potted tropical trees, and prints of native flora by Singaporean artists are seen throughout. It makes sense. In 1967, Singapore’s prime minister vowed to turn his metropolis into a ‘garden city’. Today, almost half of Singapore’s land is covered in green space – and a lot of hotels and restaurants have adopted this nature-inspired-living approach.

“What we wanted to do was to honour architect John Portman’s original iconic atrium design, which drew inspiration from Singapore’s tropical environment, by bringing the landscape into an intimate atrium space,” says Postma. “With the transformation into Conrad Singapore Orchard, our team of designers embraced this philosophy through nature-inspired design influences. From the biophilic indoor greenery to the creation of a central seating zone around the atrium and bubble lifts, every detail reflects a commitment to Portman’s vision. The guest rooms and suites also echo this with botanical motifs and patterns, offering a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city.

“Being surrounded by nature provides our guests with moments of calm and rejuvenation, fostering mindfulness and a connection to the environment that enhances their overall experience,” Postma continues. “It’s the perfect balance of urban convenience and natural tranquillity.”

While Singapore is a popular layover destination for many Australians, Conrad Singapore Orchard might entice you to stay longer than 24 hours. Did we mention the ‘Edible Garden Walk’ at the nearby botanical gardens? Or its Manhattan bar, which was lauded among the world’s best bars? The latter might not be part of the ‘Sleep To Wake Ritual’ but maybe you could skip it just one night.

Ahead, Postma details how to best spend 24 hours in Singapore as a guest of Conrad Singapore Orchard.

Guests can immerse themselves in the Edible Garden Walk, which offers a quick and enriching introduction to Singapore’s natural and culinary heritage, and is perfect for a range of guests, from those looking to take a restful pause from their busy schedules.
