ASPEN, COLORADO: It’s not unusual to spot a Moncler Barante, or the likes, making its way through the champagne crowd at Ajax Tavern during après ski season. Elegant coats hide reversible rainproof interiors, collarless jackets are given the Moncler treatment with light boudin quilting, and hooded windbreakers and cardigans are designed as wardrobe mainstays, and are even suitable for the warmer months when you return home. Elsewhere, high functioning fabrics are extended to skirt suits, jersey micro-dresses, bucket hats and even swimwear, perfect for a post-slopes dip in the resort jacuzzi.
Founded in a little Alpine village in France, called Monestier-de-Clermont, in 1952, the Italian House then made its buck from mountaineering gear such as tents, sleeping bags and a hooded cape. Two years later, it launched its first down-padded coat. And cut to 70 years later, has carved out a year-round loyal clientele including Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa.
