Jenna Ortega is one of the most exciting young actresses working today, made even more so to those obsessed with fashion by the sartorial glow-up she’s been having, coinciding with her growing stardom.
Wearing hooded Saint Laurent pieces in a similar vein to cool-girl Zoe Kravitz and shutting down the red carpet in Gucci gowns – not to mention opting for vintage Versace at the SAG awards last week – Ortega, whose breakthrough role came via Netflix’s Wednesday, has been non-stop serving.
To attend the Scream VI premiere in New York City, the 20-year-old didn’t disappoint. Looking to none other than Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture, guest designed by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, and wearing a piece taken straight from the runway of the autumn/winter 2022 show.
Ortega opted for a deconstructed white shirt mini dress with a cut-out black tuxedo jacket worn over the top and a black velvet pair of platform peep-toe sandals. Originally seen on the runway in July 2022 worn in the exact same way — though Ortega added Tiffany & Co. jewels and red lipstick, wearing her hair in a shaggy lob — the piece looks like it was made for the actress.

Ortega has worked with stylist Enrique Melendez since she was 14, but has only recently has figured out her own signature style. “Initially, when we met, I was like, ‘how am I supposed to dress someone so young?’ Melendez told Vogue of their collaboration.
“But once we got to know each other, I began to understand her mind and the brands that work for her, and it just blossomed into what it is today: a true collaboration. And as she gets older, she doesn’t hold back on what she really wants – I love that.”
