SEAN’S PANORAMA, BONDI: There was a moment during Joslin’s Resort 2023 collection launch when style curator Tash Sefton got up out her seat and walked towards the door. Her crisp white linen billowing sleeves – with cotton ladder lace and bows at the shoulder – were backlit by the afternoon sun, creating a silhouette so beautiful, a few people at the table remarked on the striking cut of the dress.
“I feel like Tash really is the Joslin woman,” I say to Joslin’s founding designer Elinor McInnes, who was cloaked in the brand’s Mavis Linen Midi Dress.
“She really is,” she replies. “She emulates everything about the brand.”
Over margaritas and three courses of Sean Panorama’s finest, the Melbourne-born, four-year-old independent label launched its Resort 2023 collection: Selene. The first cuts of the resort-inspired linen dresses and separates – made seasonless and sustainably in black, white, chocolate, flax, stone, and navy – were shot on the undulating landscape of Sarakiniko Beach in Milos, Greece. It was here on the white sand that accents of sky blue and laurel green took centre stage.
“Joslin’s signature colour palette is defined by timeless neutrals to create practicality and versatility,” says McInnes. “I’m forever inspired by the beauty of nature – Selene’s vibrant pops of sky blue and emerald green are aligned to the absolute joy and freedom of romantic escapades. The uncertainty that has dominated our lives is fading, and the Joslin woman is full of hope and ready to celebrate.”
The girly collection, characterised by the Sefton’s aforementioned lace, ruffles and bows, is crafted with a mix of natural fabrics, including European Flax® Linen Batiste, GOTS Certified Organic Cotton Poplin and Cotton Organdy, biodegradable Ramie, GCS Cashmere, and premium sand-washed Silk Crepe De Chine sourced in Suzhou, China – so it’s a purchase you can feel good about.
