Toni Collette, best known for her roles in The Staircase and Pieces of Her, and husband Dave Galafassi released a joint-statement today announcing their divorce.
Taking to Instagram the couple wrote: “It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing. We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other. Our kids are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit a different shape. We’re thankful for the space and love you grant us as we evolve and move through this transition peacefully. Big thanks.”
The lengthy caption was accompanied by a photograph of a floral art instalment that read ‘PEACE & LOVE’. The couple share two children, daughter Sage, 13, and son Arlo, 11.
The award-winning actress and former drummer of indie rock band Gelbison met in 2002 before tying the knot in a Buddhist ceremony the following year. The shocking news arrives after The Daily Mail shared photographs of Galafassi hugging and kissing another woman in Sydney. It is not known how long the couple were split before the pictures were released.
Just hours before they announced the split, Collette re-shared a cryptic quote to her Instagram stories, reading, “No matter what your current circumstances are, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.”
Collette and Galafassi are just another longtime couple to have split in 2022. Earlier this year we were shocked to learn that Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa split after 16 years together and four years of marriage. In a joint statement they said: “We free each other”.
