Nestled on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal in Scotland, the now silent distillery of Port Dundas thrived as a grain whisky blending powerhouse for nearly 200 years. In 2010, it closed its doors, and this season – much like the sartorial muses of yesteryear that dominate those heart-thumping runways in the spring – this ghost distillery becomes the heart of Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s latest release: Ghost and Rare Port Dundas.
The Ghost and Rare series explores just eight of the rarest whiskies within the unparalleled Johnnie Walker reserves. This limited-edition release comprises of creamy, wood notes from Port Dundas, vanilla and soft smoke from the “ghost” whiskies of Cambus and original stocks of Brora. Other very rare whiskies from Cameronbridge and Glenkinchie reveal notes of spiced apples alongside Clynelish, Dailuaine and Auchroisk bringing aromas of peaches and berries.

“The team and I have always been fascinated by how Scotch from a small number of iconic closed distilleries have a unique, inimitable character that lend something very special to Johnnie Walker Blue Label,” says Johnnie Walker master blender Dr. Emma Walker.
“We wanted each release in the series to offer an opportunity to savour the depth of flavour of whiskies from ‘ghost’ distilleries that have long-since closed (and often forgotten), but whose spirit still lives on in the dwindling stocks of their maturing Scotch,” she continues.
“The series, at its simplest, sees some of our rarest whiskies reawakened.”
In other words, a timeless muse whose spirit lives on.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Dundas will be available in select national and independent bottle stores from late November.
