Sadie Sink has arrived at the 79th annual Venice International Film Festival in a power blue Alexander McQueen gown that’s a far cry from the 1980’s middle school attire most of us are used to seeing from her Stranger Things character Max Mayfield.

Sink attended the premiere of The Whale, in which she stars alongside Brendan Fraser. Directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Samuel D. Hunter, the A24 film follows the story of a father and daughter trying to reconnect after years of separation. In the film, Fraser plays Sink’s father, who had struggled with over-eating after losing his partner.

Sink’s red carpet dress featured an embellished cut-out section with layered tulle floor-length skirt. Along with the Alexander McQueen gown, she wore periwinkle blue eyeshadow with her hair in undone waves.

Jodie Turner-Smith and Laura Harrier also attended the film screening. The premiere of The Whale marks a new chapter of Sink’s career, and we can’t wait to see what comes next for the 20-year-old star.

The Australian release date for The Whale is still yet to be announced, but early film reviews have been mixed, with some claiming Fraser should be in the running for an Oscar for his performance.
