Adriana Lima. Adriana Lima. Adriana Lima. It’s 12 noon and one question we’ve been asking the models backstage at the Victoria’s Secret show at Pier 94 on the Upper West Side is which angel gave them the best piece of career advice. At this moment, Lima hasn’t announced her Victoria’s Secret retirement – she would go on to do so via Instagram at 5pm. The ever-bubbly Sara Sampaio was so giving with her compliments towards the legendary Lima. “Just seeing how Adriana comes every year and she still feels nervous like it’s her first time. It’s like her 18th time!,” 27-year-old Sampaio gushes, her Brazilian accent thick.. “It’s just so inspiring.”

“You are completely a mini-Adriana,” I quip.

“No!” Sampaio laughs. “I will take that as a huge compliment. Thank you.”

Sampaio also touched on how different she feels as a woman compared to when she began walking in VS six years ago. “Oh my God, it’s like, so different,” she began. “I feel more confident and secure in myself and even in these past two years, I feel like my body has changed quite a lot and it’s been interesting and tricky to deal with – not because I don’t like it – but because I need to figure it out. Like, different kinds of workouts, different kinds of diets. It’s been amazing, I’m finally getting curves which I love. I feel so much more confident and secure with myself.”

“I’m at a really good place in my life, you know” she continued. “When you start, you don’t really know who you are or what you want to be and I think I’m at a point in my life where I don’t know where I’m going but I know what I want.”

The Australian Victoria’s Secret flagship store will open in late November at Chadstone Shopping Centre.
