Undoubtedly one of the most chic USA First Lady-elect since the Valentino-loving Jackie Kennedy Onassis, the former model received nearly as much attention as her husband Donald Trump during the past year – not for what she said (like the president) but what she wore.
Pantsuit chic
Donald Trump’s victory speech, November 2016
There was a bit of déjà vu during Trump’s victory speech, when the First Lady-elect stepped out in a very similar outfit to what Hillary Clinton wore on multiple occasions throughout her campaign. Ms Clinton paired slender white pants with a matching jacket, while Ms Trump opted for an all-white, one-piece silk jumpsuit. Albeit different in style, the chosen outfits by both women were awkwardly similar. Coincidentally, both designed by Ralph Lauren.
Did the 46-year-old don the one-shoulder, sexy piece to take a jab at Ms Clinton? We’ll never know.
Label loving First Lady
At the voting booth, November 2016
The First Lady-elect has always has made her love of labels known (whether it be winter or summer). While casting her vote – we’re assuming for her husband – Ms Trump draped a beige Balmain gold-buttoned coat over a jacquard mini dress designed by Michael Kors. The tailored coat – a conservative, but still statement piece if we have ever seen one. And the dress we love – with ’60s vibes aplenty.
Gorgeous in Gucci
Second presidential debate, October 2016
For the second presidential debate in October, Ms Trump swapped her signature white threads for a more daring, on-trend look. All eyes were on the soon-to-be First Lady-elect as she sported a hot (or haute) pink pussy-bow silk Gucci shirt with matching trousers. Taking her place next to her husband, we found it quite hard to concentrate on what Trump was saying – his wife more so taking centre stage in that signature Gucci silhouette blouse we have come to know and love.
Off-the-shoulder sophistication
First presidential debate, SEPTEMBER 2016
At the final presidential debate in late September, Ms Trump decided on a complete colour change for the important event. White, pink were nowhere in sight – the First Lady-elect donning an off-the-shoulder, sleeveless black number. What caused quite a stir was the amount of skin the former model flashed – an asymmetrical neckline exposing not only her bronzed skin but slender figure. The LBD was designed by a favourite of Ms Trump’s – acclaimed French fashion creative Roland Mouret, in his Pre-Fall 2016 collection.
Bell-sleeved beauty
Republic National Convention, July 2016
The former model once again cut a chic figure in an off-white figure-hugging Roksanda ‘Margo’ dress. The garment oozed femininity with dramatic bell sleeves and a nipped-in waist. Through her choice of attire, Ms Trump once again told the world that she has a penchant for sleek white pieces – and she’s not afraid to show it.
