In devastating news for Sex And The City fans hoping to see the foursome on screen again, a third SATC movie have been canned days before filming was due to begin.
The Daily Mail reports that Sex And The City 3 was set to begin pre-production this week, but the project has been scrapped – allegedly because of Kim Cattrall.
According to the report Cattrall has been trying to negotiate for Warner Bros to produce other film projects she has in development, and when they refused to green-light them, she pulled out from Sex And The City 3 at the eleventh hour.
It’s understood Warner Bros does not want to go ahead with a SATC film without all four main characters – Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte – in it.
“The only reason this movie isn’t being made is because of Kim Cattrall,” a source told the publication.
“People turned down other jobs, were in the process of relocating to New York but she kept stalling and was always unavailable when answers from her were needed.”
Last year, Sarah Jessica Parker had hinted she was eager to make more Sex And The City,whether on the big or small screen.
SJP told the Press Association there’s “always a possibility, definitely” that she’ll reprise her role as New York City based columnist Carrie.
“I don’t think any of us have said no,” she said. “I don’t know whether it’s a series or the movie. I think that remains an open question and discussion that will continue until it’s been resolved.”
Kim, don’t do this. Surely we can work this out – pick up the phone.
