Donald Trump’s impending appointment to the Presidency of the United States has many concerned about the future, especially environmentalists – Trump has denied global warming science on many occasions, and just this week he laughably chose a climate change-denier and fossil fuel enthusiast to head up the Environmental Protection Agency.

So Leonardo DiCaprio’s visit to the president-elect’s headquarters in Trump Tower, New York this week should not be taken lightly. The Oscar winner, whose become a passionate environmental activist in recent years and released climate change documentary Before The Flood this year, met with Trump to convince him that global warming is real, and to urge him to invest in renewable, clean energy – not only for the sake of the planet but to create more jobs and boost America’s economy, too.

Terry Tamminen, the CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, Leo’s environmental charity, confirmed the meeting.

“Today, we presented the President-elect and his advisors with a framework — which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism — that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure,” Tamminen said.

“Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation.”

According to AP, a source with knowledge of the meeting revealed that Leonardo gave Trump a copy of Before The Flood, and he promised to watch it.

After winning an Oscar this year, it looks like all that’s left on Leo’s bucketlist is to save the world. And failing that, he’s always got Mars.
