The list of stars scheduled to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards has been announced, and it’s a pretty impressive line-up.

The Weeknd, John Legend, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Metallica have all been confirmed to be taking to the stage at LA’s Staples Centre next month.

The Weeknd is an interesting choice, since he’s not up for an award like Metallica, Urban and Underwood are. Legend isn’t nominated either, but his new album Darkness & Light just came out a month ago, whereas The Weeknd’s Starboy was released back in September.

His growing popularity could be reason enough to warrant giving the singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, a spot. As could his new romance with Selena Gomez, especially if the rumoured couple intend to make their red carpet debut together. While she’s not nominated for any awards, her recent return to the spotlight after months in rehab – not to mention being one of the most popular artists in the world – would have ensured she received an invite.

Next month’s ceremony set to be dominated by Adele and Beyonce; the divas are facing off in three of the key categories including Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year, the latter two for Formation and Hello.

Beyonce got the most nominations of any artist with nine; followed by Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West, with eight and Chance The Rapper with seven.

Justin Bieber also fared well with his track Love Yourself nominated for Song Of The Year and his Purpose album in Album Of The Year.

Kanye threatened to boycott the awards, though he hasn’t clarified his position recently. If he goes, will he have newly-emerged-from-hiding Kim Kardashian at his side? And will The Weeknd, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber all find themselves waiting in the same bathroom line? And will Taylor Swift be there?

We’ve got less than a month to find out – the 59th Annual Grammy Awards are on February 13.
