George and Amal Clooney have revealed they’re expecting twins.
American television host Julie Chen broke the news on US show The Talk on Friday, confirming that George had shared the news with her last month.
“Beyoncé is not the only superstar expecting twins,” Chen said. “Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney. The Talk has confirmed that the 55-year-old superstar and his highly accomplished 39-year-old attorney wife are expecting twins.”
The presenter added that Amal is due in June.
The news of double trouble for the actor and human rights lawyer, who married in 2014, comes after Beyonce and Jay Z also announced that they’re expecting twins this year.
Last year George said fatherhood wasn’t really on his radar – but of course now we know he was just throwing the public off the scent.
“Not really,” he said on CBS This Morning when asked if he was interested in becoming a dad. “I mean, I’ve thought about it, I suppose, but it hasn’t been high on my list.”
Last year it was revealed that Amal is taking on ISIS in the courtroom. She’s representing her client, Nadia Murad, who was kept and tortured by an ISIS leader in Mosul, Iraq, before managing to escape in 2014. Murad is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee and UN Goodwill Ambassador.
It might seem like a fruitless task to try to confront ISIS in the courtroom, but Clooney explained why it’s important to do so in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“You can’t kill an idea [by blowing them up]. I think one of the ways to take action is to expose their brutality and their corruption, and partly you can do that through trials.”
