Model-that-we’d-most-like-to-befriend Cara Delevingne treated her 25th birthday party guests to a plane-hopping tour of Mexico, known fondly as “Sexico”. Reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s 4th of July 2016 party – albeit the popstar was not in attendance as she’s testifying in a sexual abuse case in New York – party-goers all sported red sweatsuits emblazoned with “Team Delevingne” as their chosen travel attire.
Joined by sister Poppy Delevingne, French actress Josephine de La Baume, Donatella Versace’s favourite model Adwoa Aboah, casting director Tallulah Bernard, Burberry’s Niamh Watmore and more models by the names of Lady Mary Charteris, Alice Dellal and Georgia May Jagger, the women toured the Mayan ruins Chichén Itzá and Isla Holbox and stayed at Chablé resort and spa in Yucatán.
Releasing a YA novel titled Mirror Mirror, Delevingne says she wants her readers to remember that “life is a beautiful mixture of wonderful disaster, but to truly love yourself is so important”. “[As a teenager], I felt like I was completely alone and I couldn’t express myself because I felt ashamed of my emotions. I want to make sure that kids realise that emotions and vulnerability are important and should be spoken about,’” she recently said.
With beautiful friends surrounding her for her milestone birthday, the model certainly seems to have come out the other side of this way of thinking. Take a peek at the pictures below.
