You don’t need insider knowledge to know that Beyonce and Kim Kardashian have never been friends. Despite their husbands being extremely close for years (until recently), Kim and Beyonce have barely been photographed together and are always as far from each other as possible when in the same room.
Which is why, as much as we’re not inclined to believe a lot of the gossip we hear out of Hollywood, that we can’t help but think a new report about a phone call between Queen Bey and Kimmy K might be legitimate juice.
According to Radar Online, Kim called Beyonce recently to try to smooth over her and Kanye’s relationship with Bey and Jay – you might remember Kanye ranted about his former friend and collaborator on stage prior to his breakdown, attacking Jay for never visiting after Kim was robbed at gunpoint, and lamenting the fact their daughter Blue Ivy had never had a playdate with North.
Beyonce also got a mention in the rant, with Yeezy telling the crowd “Beyoncé, I was hurt, because I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform [at the VMAs] unless you won Video of the Year over me and over Hotline Bling. In my opinion … sometimes, we be playing the politics too much and forgetting who we are, just to win. F*** winning. F*** looking cool. F*** being cool.”
But alas, Kim’s olive branch was apparently swatted away by Queen Bey.
“Beyonce flipped out on Kim when Kim called her to try and soothe tensions after Kanye’s hospitalisation,” a source told the website.
“Basically she told Kim to never, ever, contact her or her husband again and said stuff like she thought that the two of them are made for each other because they are both talentless and pathetic!”
It’s hard to imagine the usually serene Beyonce saying such things, but Kanye’s public slamming of his former allies might have pushed her over the edge. Beyonce and Jay Z are known to prefer to keep their private lives just that – private – so they would not have taken too kindly to Kanye slamming them in public.
Beyonce and Jay Z’s vastly different political views to Kanye could also explain the particularly emotional reaction. Beyonce and Jay Z have close ties to Hillary Clinton, who lost the US presidential debate to Donald Trump after an ugly and divisive campaign – and just this month Kanye publicly aligned himself with Trump, meeting with the president-elect at his New York headquarters and posing for a photo opportunity afterwards.
2016 was a difficult year for many, and as we move into a new year, it seems Beyonce and Jay Z’s relationship with Kimye is being left behind with it.
The only thing that makes us doubt the story is … Beyonce knows Kim has a habit of recording her phone calls, right?
