It’s known in the archives of the world wide web that Beyoncé Knowles has a strained and at times fraught relationship with her father, Mathew. And as new mums everywhere can attest, now is probably one of those times.
While fans have been eagerly awaiting and suspecting the impending arrivals, Mathew has beaten his daughter to the punch and announced on his Instagram the twins are indeed both very much born. “They’re here!” he wrote under a post reading “Happy Birthday to the twins! Love Grandad”. With just under 10 000 followers, Mathew made sure the post would go viral by hashtagging in #beyonce and #jayz.
The superstar, 35, and her husband, 47, waited weeks to confirm their first daughter Blue Ivy’s birth in 2012 and made the announcement via a series of photos on Tumblr. No matter what the reveal plan for the twins was, we can be almost be certain it wasn’t for Mathew to divulge, it’s not his news to tell. And the beyhive are angry. (Imagine giving birth to twins only for your dad, who you don’t have the best relationship with, to tell everybody before you got the share the news?) The pair posted an Instagram photo of Beyoncé’s African themed “Carter Push Party” on May 22.
Beyoncé and Mathew reportedly fell out when the latter had more than one public affair while still married to Tina Knowles who divorced her then-husband and is now remarried to Richard Lawson. Family relationships since have been known to be complicated.
